Blue State Ball

After the Green Party winter conference I went to the Blue State Ball, hosted by AM 950, our local Air America affiliate. It may have been Blue, but there were a number of Greens there. We may disagree on tactics, but we are united in our utter abhorrence of Bush. Michael Cavlan, candidate for U.S. Senate, was among the Greens in attendance. Now that Patty Wetterling has dropped out of the race, Michael is the only peace candidate. Candidates Lourey and Rowley were there, and I spoke with the latter, the former woman of the year. ; ) I also had a chance to meet talk show hosts Wendy Wilde and Ed Schultz, and visited with Ed’s wife, whose name is also Wendy. In addition, I met Burt Burlowe, host of a new show, Spirit Radio. Burt’s email is berlowe@tcinternet.net. One idea I floated was to get Instant Runoff Voting passed in those states where Democrats control the governor’s office and both houses of the legislature. Another subject that came up was 9/11. Help me get this straight. Was WTC7 demolished or did it collapse on its own? The owner said it was demolished.

Did you ever see the guy who walks up and down Lake Street, with a sign that says "Democracy Radio 950AM?"

I'm waiting for Al Franken vs Norm Coleman. That's entertainment.

Is he wearing a sandwich board? I have an AM 950 bumper sticker now, next to my Green, Nader, and "Bush Knew" stickers.

Amy Klobuchar was on Al Franken today. She has a good sense of humor, sometimes a little biting I think. I'm still voting for Mike but if we had IRV she'd be my second choice.

Keep an eye out for IRV in Hopkins. They are holding their extended public hearing in the Hopkins City Hall chambers the first tuesday in March. I attended the first hearing and the whole of the city council and mayor are in agreement with the implementation of IRV. Fran Hesch, ex-Hopkins city councilperson has been working on IRV in Hopkins for three years. It is inspiring to see her hard work and ideas coming into fruition!!!
Look for her (I hope) in the open seat race for state senate in D44 this year. Sen Kwelley is running for guv....

Well, look at it this way, yellow and blue make up green. And many democrats are yellow dogs in a blue states. Good to hear you are lingering in the blue camps, Tom.
