Republicans milking 9/11

The Republicans, at their convention, sure are milking 9/11 for all it’s worth. This as a recent poll says half of New York City believes the U.S. government knew we were going to be attacked and "consciously failed" to act.

Tonight's Republican speeches were quite negative and mean-spirited. They have to go on the attack because they can't defend their record. Who needs all that anger and selfishness?

Bush’s speech:

He said that schools are getting better, seniors have better drug coverage, the economy is growing, and they’re creating jobs. Do you believe it? Sounds like a crock to me.

He talked about new plans for job training, community colleges, medical insurance discounts, and county health centers. Well, he has both houses of congress, what is he waiting for?

He mentioned that Kerry wants to raise taxes, but he left out the $200,000/year income distinction. (See my 7/31 post on Kerry’s convention speech.)

He said he wants to make the tax code less complicated, and to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. I’ll believe it when I see it!

After the superb performances by U.S. women in Olympic soccer, basketball, and softball, I’m not so sure I’m offended by Schwarzenegger’s phrase “economic girly men.”

When Bush was talking about education being better, did he mentioned how much college tuition has risen under his term?

I skipped watching the RNC. I'm tired of their lies.
