The Fascists Have Already Won

This past week I was embroiled in an intense debate with a Democrat from Texas. See my August 7 post, "Select a Candidate," and click "Comments" to follow the action!

Excerpts:
Tom: "True, Bush is much worse than expected, but if we let that scare us into voting for Kerry, then the fascists have already won."
Sheryl: "In terms of reforming the system. Who do you expect is going to make these reforms? The people who benefit from the very split in the liberal vote?"
Tom: "You can start by passing [Instant Runoff Voting] in those states where Democrats still control the legislatures."

Just for the record, I have nothing against you voting for Greens in STATEWIDE elections in Minnesota. Might actually benefit Texas if you split the liberal vote and ended up with a Republican state legislature. When the liberals flee to other states like Texas, that is. ;-)

Speaking of our conversation, I left you two new links.

As a matter of fact, we now have a Republican House and Governor. But, it may have to hurt before it gets better. At the same time it should be noted that Governor Tim Pawlenty moderated on a couple issues like volume prescription purchases and a rail corridor to St. Cloud.

Makes me think of that chinese proverb: "If we don't change our direction, we are likely to end up where we are headed."
