Bush vs. Kerry Bling Off
I’m so glad I’m voting for a humble servant. Kerry wears custom ties costing tens of thousands of dollars. Nader would never indulge in such an extravagance. VH1 Bush vs. Kerry Bling Off

Do you have another source you are describing, because the link you mentioned does not mention ties at all?
What it said was:
"When it comes to looking good Bush relies on his $14,000 power suit made from the finest hand-sewn material, but for Kerry it's all about the hair. He even flew in his personal stylist moments before a press conference for a signature cut worth $1000."
You might also notice that it says his cut was "worth" $1000, but it doesn't actually say he PAID $1000. Did you ever watch The Price Is Right when you were growing up? Where the "actual retail price is...." about double on the show what they are in real life.
I don't what Kerry spends on ties or hair, but I do know it's all recorded at the Federal Elections Commission website and you don't have to rely on flim-flam site like this for info.
Just the language of this article should be telling you something about its reliability and intent: "the fabulous life," "in the palm of their hands," "power and privilege," "world is in their domain...."
I mean come on!! If you are going to go this far for "reliable sources", then you might as well go all the way and quote the National Enquirer or what's that other one with all the funny morphs of people? Maybe something about Kerry's connections with men from Mars. ;-)
Sheryl, I saw the show first, then did a search and couldn't find a complete transcript. It could have been MTV or VH1, but I know I saw the ties with my own eyes, with the US flag and Kerry's initials.
Pyro, please see my other posts, including March 4, Aug 7, and Aug 24, where I make my case.
I think the give away is to look at his hair. He simply has not been walking around with a $1000 hair cut. An $8 cut on a good day. Now here are some nice hair cuts he's had in his past:

Oops, I somehow got a plus sign stuck on that first URL. It works if you lop it off.
I should look on the FEC and see if either candidate mentions hair cuts as expenditures. That would be bizarre.
