Jeanine Estimé lit piece

Here is the lit piece we distributed for Jeanine Estimé in her run for Minneapolis City Council. Jeanine placed second, and received a majority of second-choice votes in a field of five. I am proud of Jeanine because she ran as a Green, not shying away from our party label. She differentiated respectfully from her Dem opponent, solidifying a 15 percent Green base in Ward 8. It’s a base we hope to continue building as concerned citizens weigh the issues, verify the facts, and slowly absorb Jeanine’s powerful message. It took women 72 years to get the vote. Thanks to people like Jeanine, we are building a third party movement to gradually loosen the corporate party stranglehold on power.

Not one word about the environment, the scarcity of natural resources, or the need to live in harmony with the planet. This is not the Green Party of my youth.

Under "Jobs", check the part about the solar panel company. I thought these were just the kind of green jobs the Obama stimulus was supposed to provide. Also under "Jobs", Jeanine criticizes the midtown burner, and under "Youth", Jeanine criticizes the downtown burner. Greens generally oppose garbage burners, which distract us from better solutions like reducing consumption. The positions outlined in Jeanine's lit piece give an idea how she would implement, at the local level, the Green Party Key Value of Ecological Wisdom.
