Global warming and aid to Africa

The only thing that could make the London Tube attack tragedy any worse is if the story crowds the G8 discussion of global warming and aid to Africa off the front page. If that happens, the terrorists have already won.

Also, I was surfing the web and noticed this from Say No to London 2012. It came out before the attacks, and I just thought it was interesting:

"…London is already a tourist city. It is also one of the most expensive cities in the world with an inadequate transport system. Rather than spending astronomical amounts on a two-week event [the Olympics], improving the Tube and rail network would provide a bigger boost for the tourist industry… However, it is worth remembering who benefits from tourism… It is no accident that the most enthusiastic backers of the London bid are business groups like London First."

My mom was in London last fall and thought the Tube was in good condition. What am I getting at? I'm just trying to rule out a renovation motive here. After 9/11, there was some speculation that the World Trade Center was due to be demolished…

My word! Now I'm guilty of crowding out global warming and aid to Africa! Suffice it say I think they should be fully funded. Let's not let one tragedy lead to others.

Also, did you know there was another case of Mad Cow in North America? This time, it was a beef cow, not a dairy, and it was in the U.S., not Canada. That story was crowded out by the Michael Jackson verdict.

People should know that they feed chicken shit to cows.

As for Michael Jackson, he needs a 24/7 webcam and a huge bed in the shape of a wedding cake, with the children sleeping on the lower tiers. I'd say that's about the only thing that can salvage his public image at this point.

Intelligent transportation is indeed forward thinking, Tom. :-) Can't hardly argue with that.
