Book Review: The Key
"The Key" by Whitley Strieber has some pretty wild ideas in it. I'm not saying I believe it, but at the very least it was entertaining reading, and it was what I was in the mood for when I read it. I would only recommend the book to those who are open-minded and take it with a grain of salt.
It posits that the souls of this world are basically trapped because we went to war against God, but also that we are God. It also suggests that we will soon be tested, and we will either adapt or go extinct, both our bodies and our souls, and we are all in this together.
I agree with the book's warnings about the environment and economics. I laughed out loud when I read this passage: "After the suffering you are about to endure, mankind will never again lust after material wealth. You are about to suffocate in your own garbage."
Strieber's source, who he calls "The Master of the Key," goes on to say: "Go to Calcutta or Lagos or Bogota and give yourself to the first street urchin you meet as his helper and lifelong servant. Do it without question or hesitation."
That's a tough recommendation to follow, but by writing about it and giving to causes and charities, hopefully that's a step in the right direction. Bottom line, if "The Key" is correct, I don't want to be the one who stands in the way of our salvation!
