BAIT and SWITCH

What we’re witnessing right now is the same old bait and switch process the American people fall for every four years. Kucinich is the bait. Then Edwards is the bait. Obama is the switch. Then Clinton is the switch.

Until recently, Ed Schultz was bashing Hillary Clinton every day on his liberal talk radio show. Now suddenly he’s kissing up to her, crediting her "genuine" show of emotion just before the New Hampshire primary. People should know by now it’s customary for candidates to have an emotional appeal just before an important election. People seem to have forgotten the issues regarding Hillary: Wal-Mart, Rupert Murdoch, Iraq, Kyl-Lieberman, Single Payer, Habeas Corpus, Illegal wiretapping, Torture, Nuclear Power, Impeachment, etc.

Bill Press, on his radio show, was telling listeners he wasn’t talking about Edwards because he thinks he’s finished. I think it’s because Press is getting corporate money from his TV gigs. That’s not to say I like Edwards.

On the Republican side, I think that Ron Paul is a baby step in the right direction for conservatives. Huckabee may be bait for social conservatives. The switch could be McCain, or, heaven forbid, Guilliani.

I keep hoping that the people will figure all this out and rise up. Within each party, people need to identify who are the populists and who are the corporatists. You’re either part of the solution or part of the problem. In 1912, Republicans walked out of their own convention and formed the Bull Moose Party. That’s what I’d like to see with the Kucinich supporters and the Ron Paul supporters. Together with people who have never voted, we can reach critical mass and create the chain reaction of optimism needed to win.

The Green Party has some excellent candidates: Jared Ball, Jesse Johnson, Cynthia McKinney, Kent Mesplay, and Kat Swift, along with draft candidate Ralph Nader. We have a GP debate in San Francisco January 13. You’re either with the corporatists, or you’re checking it out at www.gp.org.

Lots of orange yesterday at the Minneapolis rally to close Guantanamo and on the 40 th St. pedestrian overpass over 8 lanes of traffic over 35W (effectively reaching about 10,000 cars per hour). Thanks everyone! The ACLU-MN has, by the way, supported our first amendment rights to safely display peace banners from inside footbridges! Unfortunately it was a little foggy and the highway photos didn't turn out that good but you get the idea. Anyone interested in helping for an hour or so with future Saturday-Sunday bannering, please call Ross Rowley

Lots of truth in media?: Actually I have been from Minnesota for the last 50 years, but recently moved to New Hampshire. In Minnesota, I have held the honk for peace signs in Eagan. So, in order to actually make a difference in the Guantanamo detainees future, we all need to support the candidate who will do something for them - and, for all of us. Kucinich is being totally shut out of the media. He is now been shut out of both the ABC Debate last Saturday and the NBC Debate this Saturday. His family has been threatened and said they will continue threatening him in his own district if he does not stop talking about impeachment.

So, to help both the issues, with our rights to petition the government - to protest - please have at least one day for bannering for Dennis Kucinich on the overpass. We carry copies of the Constitution, just like Dennis showed us on Colbert. We have many copies and boxes if you need us to ship some to you. - we have big signs, also. Working with the campaign, Kucinich is now in Michigan working on a non stop schedule until their primary on Tuesday and even C-Span is afraid of him, reporting and saying, now, even as I write here, that only Hillary is on the ballot in Michigan. Actually only Kucinich and Hillary are on the ballot.

Then the campaign comes to Minnesota and wants to make a large media presence and needs our help. Since he has been excluded, his numbers seem to be low - but they are not - it is only in the reporting - his numbers are super high - his message is strong with the people - - he has received huge crowds everywhere in New Hampshire. C-Span covered a McCain rally of 24 people on C-Span in the town of Peterborough - a local foods, sustainable community while Kucinich packed the house next door - even McCain paid sign holders who came over to listen to Dennis. Then Dennis filled the Colonial Theatre (over 800 people) in Keene, NH. No press. And the results of the election total there, at only 500 votes.

New Hampshire has the right of revolution in our state constitution. Dennis used this in his campaign here to further impeachment. Now the NH election is under scrutiny for a recount and has different results between hand counted and machine counted ballots. Is this on the news in Minnesota?

So, here is the plan - for Minnesota - create a media blitz - to get the truth out there - then after Super Tuesday - Vermont! - Dennis is on the ballot in Vermont - google their sites - battleboro.com, etc. In Vermont the voting public has passed legislation to arrest George Bush and Dick Cheney if they visit this state. Seriously. 67% of the people polled in Vermont are on board for impeachment. Big issue in the north east states. So, Dennis is running on the platform of impeachment in Vermont. We are planning to run the campaign asking for these votes for Dennis. And have Kucinich win in Vermont by getting that 67% - To splash and shock the news media - especially when the others are looking and campaigning, elsewhere.

One plan is to have people like you and the great people of Minnesota help us fill the hotels in Vermont - to keep out the Republicans and the paid, (rent a kids) that hold the fake Hillary and McCain signs - that we actually talk to and they tell us they no intention of voting for these two they just get paid to hold their signs. Hillary paid 4000 kids from other states to do this in New Hampshire. We want to impress the actual issues of the day - Impeachment and how it affects all of our rights in this election - including our first amendment rights, free press, the detainees rights, wire tapping, more. Help us help each other.

We rely on you to help get the message out in Minnesota and have it roll this way by the Vermont March primary. It actually feels like a Woodstock movement. The same repression of thought and need for expression. Imagine a state getting a huge progressive vote and assuring the vote is fairly counted. Vermont can do this.

Just by us showing Dennis we hear his message is the goal - he will do the rest.

Copy of some of our homemade literature for New Hampshire and Vermont:

"These are the times that try men's souls.
The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country;
but he that stands now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.
Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered;
yet we have this consolation with us,
that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.
-Thomas Paine, The Crisis

In the Constitution of New Hampshire, the Bill of Rights states clearly:
"Government being instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security of the whole community,
and not for the private interest or emolument of any one man, family, or class of men:
therefore, whenever the ends of government are perverted,
and public liberty manifestly endangered,
and all other means of redress are ineffectual,
the people may, and of right ought to reform the old, or establish a new government.
The doctrine of non resistance against arbitrary power, and repression, is absurd, slavish,
and destructive of the good of all mankind."
(Art.) 10. (Right of Revolution.)

And from my friend: (DK is Dennis Kucinich)
My heart is aching that NBC has iced our DK from the Debate ..... AGAIN!
I sent the DK web site article to BuzzFlash....feel like I need to do something besides tell people about this so they can call NBC.......email, or FAX and tell them that changing their own rules in 44 hours is bad policy, that there is precedent that had been set with Regan back in 1982 refusing to debate unless the other people were invited, since he said that he was paying for the microphone....>>>>
There is also this flap over the Obama vs. Hillary people in the latest info from Bill Siroty, MD.....in a Nashua, NH dust-up incident!

What part of BAIT and SWITCH don't you understand? Will you join us when Kucinich is defeated, or will you surrender self and soul to the corporatists?
